Best Exterior Paint

Finding the best exterior paint ensures a quality job for any outdoor project

When it comes to the façade of your home or new project, you want it to look as good as possible.  In order to do so, you have to find the best exterior paint for whatever the job is that you need to get done.   There is more to paint than just colors; we will discuss some of the factors that will help you find the best exterior paint for whatever your project demands.

If the goal at hand is to provide a new layer of paint to your house, then you should know about all the best exterior paint options.  The first thing you will want to decide is whether to use oil or latex based exterior paint.  There are advantages to both, however latex paints tend to be the best exterior paint for any home’s outer surface.

Oil paints, also sometimes referred to as alkyd-based paints, are known to be very durable and resistant to stains, however they take longer to dry than latex paints.  The cleanup process tends to be more thorough with oil paints, as the paint is not easily removed from brushes.

Latex paints have become more popular in recent years.  They last just as long, if not longer, than oil paints and are known to retain color better.  Latex paints are more environmentally friendly, easier to clean up, and are less likely to peel since the paints have great osmosis-like qualities that allow moisture to escape.

If you are looking to put a finish on the outside of your home or give your outdoor furniture a fresh coat, then you should look at different lacquer stains.  There are essentially two different methods in which you can stain:  spray-on staining and brush on staining.  Spray-on staining tends to dry fasting, however you have more control and precision when using a brush to stain.  If you choose to use a brush staining technique, you will want to apply various layers.  Just be sure to wait until the previous layer has dried before adding subsequent layers.

Aluminum paint is arguably the best exterior paint for touching up any exposed metal or giving an object a metallic look.  It is commonly used to prevent rusting on metal pipes and is a great way to ensure a long existence for any metallic products around the house.  It is incredibly durable and lasts for a very long time before needing to be replaced.  If you are looking to use aluminum paint, it is recommended to use spray paint rather than brush paint due to potentially harmful chemicals in the paint’s composition.  Be sure to wear a mask to prevent inhalation of the paint fumes.  Due to its durability, aluminum paint is also very hard to remove from your skin, so be sure to keep all body parts covered.  In the event that you do get some aluminum paint on your skin, be sure to wash it off with soap and water immediately before it dries and becomes a more cumbersome process.
